Understand the acne myths = cure the acne

These were some of the most common myths regarding acne. If you are suffering from acne, you shouldn’t be worrying about any of these myths because these myths don’t have any scientific proof. These myths just arise as a result of the misconception and misunderstanding of the disease even can make your acne getting worst.

You will understand after you read these several myths that I get from several resources and after I do a bit research plus a bit editing to make the information more completed

Acne is caused by Dirt
One of the most common misconceptions about the cause of acne is that it is caused by dirt. This misconception actually puts forward another myth about the treatment of acne i.e. washing your face more often can help in treating acne. Both of these myths are connected but there isn’t any truth about anyone of them. As a matter of fact, if you wash your face too often, it will take off the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands for smoothness of the skin. How bout the pores being block by the dirt?? Contrary to what you may have seen in commercials, pores do not get blocked from the top down due to "impurities". Rather, the walls of a pore stick together deep within the skin, starting acne formation. Far from preventing acne, frequent washing may actually irritate pores and cause them to become clogged. A washcloth can add even more irritation. The best bet is to wash very gently with bare hands, and only wash twice a day

Acne only affects people within certain age group
It is another common myth about acne. Although acne is more common at the teenage, but still people from all age groups can be affected by acne. If acne is not properly treated, it can even last quite long. As a result of this misconception, mostly people don’t care about their acne and just wait for until their teenage is over. But acne just doesn’t disappear over time unless you treat it properly. So it doesn't have any related to the age hun..

A big No to Chocolate
Chocolate was considered a big cause of acne in west but latest research confirms that there is no link between chocolate and acne. Although certain baked and oily foods can affect acne but there isn’t any link between chocolate.

Acne is Heredity disease
It is a common belief that if your parents had acne, then you are also going to suffer from acne. There are a number of skin diseases that are heredity in nature but acne is not one of them.

Don’t wear makeup if you are suffering from acne
It is another common misconception regarding acne. There are many different types of makeup. Generally oil based makeup are supposed to worsen the acne. Although most dermatologist don’t agree with this fact but still there are many other types of makeup that you can use. Water based makeup are a good choice if you are suffering from acne. Mineral makeup is also quite popular these days and is supposed to be good for the skin. Doesn’t really matter what makeup you use, always wash off your face before going to bed and your acne won’t get worsen due to makeup.

Stress causes acne
Stress may have an effect on hormones and theoretically can promote acne. However, an effective acne system is more powerful than a bout of stress any day. Some psychiatric medications may have acne as a side effect, but stress itself is no big deal. Your time is better spent determining the right course of acne treatment rather than feeling guilt about stress.

Masturbation or sex causes acne
This antiquated notion, originating as early as the 17th century to dissuade young people from having premarital sex, is not based on scientific evidence. A more plausible explanation may be that higher levels of androgens (male sex hormones) can cause increased sex drive. We also know that high levels of androgens can be related to more severe cases of acne. So it may be the higher androgen levels and not the associated increase in desire for sexual activity that is related to acne. Even some resources says that sex as a relieved for stress and make us feel more relax.

The sun will help get rid of acne
The sun may work in the short-term to hasten the clearing of existing acne while reddening your skin, thus blending your skin tone with red acne marks. However, a sun burn is actually skin damage. It's important to prevent damage to your skin while trying to get rid of acne. Sun exposure causes irritation which can make acne worse. People will often notice their skin breaking out as it heals from sun damage. The sun is a short-term band-aid which will often bite back with more acne in the weeks following exposure. And some people like doing tanning to think that they can get rid off the acne. Well, although a tan may temporarily mask acne, the sun can make the skin dry and irritated, leading to more breakouts in the future. In fact, there's no link between sun exposure and acne prevention, but the sun's rays can cause premature aging and skin cancer. Always protect your skin by choosing a sunscreen of at least SPF (sun protection factor) 15 that says noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic on the label, which means it won't clog pores. Having said that, I don't want to give the impression that the sun is evil. It is not. We get our vitamin D from the sun for instance. Limiting sun exposure on acne prone areas of your body is most likely prudent, but some exposure from time to time is not only unavoidable, but is perfectly okay.

Popping pimples will help them go away faster.
Popping a pimple may make it seem less noticeable temporarily, but popping can cause it to stay around longer. By squeezing pimples and zits, you can actually push bacteria, dead skin cells, and oil further into the skin, causing more swelling and redness — and sometimes causing a red or brown mark or scar to form. Sometimes marks can last for many months and true scars (dents and pits) will last forever.

Kiss,
